Farm Aid Concert to be Held in KCK

Farm Aid will stage its annual benefit concert Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Livestrong Sporting Park in Kansas City, Kan.  This concert will be the first Farm Aid concert in Kansas.  The Livestrong Sporting Park is in the vicinity of Legends Outlet Mall and the Kansas Speedway just off of I-70 and I-435.

Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on their land. Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. Farm Aid has raised more than $39 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture. Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to keep family farmers on their land.

The concert lineup includes the four Farm Aid board members and many other acts.  Doors will open at noon; the all-day concert is expected to last until approximately 11:00 p.m.

Information about tickets and the Kansas City Farm Aid concert can be found on the Farm Aid website.
